Fernando Torres deserves to be considered a Premier League legend, according to Adrian Durham and Darren Gough. On Torres’ 36th birthday on Friday, talkSPORT’s Drivetime duo hailed the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker as one of the English top flight’s all-time great players.
Torres is nicknamed El Niño: The Kid. Now 35, his retirement announced, the epithet remains – he is immortalised as the fresh-faced talent who scorched his way through the Atlético Madrid youth system.

Torres left Liverpool in January 2011 to join Chelsea for a British record transfer fee of £50 million, which made him the most expensive Spanish player in history.
When considering the amount paid for him and the notion that Torres was arguably the best striker in the world a few years prior to his move, it is no surprise that many consider Torres to have been a flop at Chelsea.
