Duplicates of the same message occur if your email account is configured to forward email to multiple addresses. For example, the original may arrive at your business account with a copy forwarded to your personal account. They both arrive in the same inbox when the same email client checks both addresses.
To do this, click on Tools>Accounts. You will see an open box (named Internet Accounts), click the Mail tab, click the email account, click Properties>Advanced. Uncheck the box “Leave a copy of messages on the server.”
MS Outlook creates duplicates for each send/receive cycle due to account settings; the “Leave a copy of messages on the server” check box was selected. You can fix this by disabling the account setting in all MS Outlook versions.
This is happening because you are sending via Gmail’s SMTP server and have configured Outlook to save a copy of each item sent. Because all messages you send through Gmail SMTP server automatically also save a copy in your Sent Items folder of Gmail account, you will end up with duplicates.
The recipient only gets one copy, but there are always two in the sent folder. The cause of this phenomenon depends on the type of email account involved. In the case of IMAP accounts, Outlook saves a sent message in the IMAP account’s Sent Messages folder, and your IMAP email provider may also save a copy.
Select a mailbox folder. Select Home > Clean. Now configure the following options: Clean conversation deletes and moves the duplicate emails that are in the conversation.
Users of all types of phones sometimes receive duplicate messages. It is usually the result of a security measure that carriers take when they believe there may have been a service interruption. This usually happens with your Exchange account on your iOS device. In this case, make sure your account & Password settings do not have a duplicate entry for the Exchange account for the same email address.
Click the first item in the set you want to delete, scroll to the last item in the set you want to delete, and then click the last item while holding down the SHIFT key. Press DEL to permanently delete all selected items.
