William Orrell has broken 32 cup stacking records, making him the world’s fastest.
For the first time in the history of stacking, Malaysia sets the cycling world record! Stacker, Chan Keng Ian, broke the previous world record of 4.813 seconds with a new time of 4.753, making this the 7th official cycle to be stacked in under five seconds.
In Individuals, Special Stackers compete in one of two “levels” in their age division based on their average 3-6-3 time. The average time for level 1 is 15.99 seconds or less. The average time for level 2 is 16.00 seconds or more.
The fastest 3-6-3 stack in individual sport is 1.713 seconds and was achieved by Chan Keng Ian (Malaysia) on August 23, 2018 in Nilai, Malaysia. Chan Keng Ian broke the record at the NS MesaMall Sport Stacking Championships, in his native Malaysia, beating the previous record of 1.746 seconds.

Wayne Godinet, a Samoan from Oceanside, is widely credited with making cup stacking a sport. He was a director at the Boys & Girls Club, and one day in 1981 he took a stack of Dixie cups and told the kids to stack them in a pyramid, then run and hit a wall, come back and stack them again.

Sport Stacking originated in Southern California in the early 1980’s and gained national attention in 1990 with a part on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. It was there that it first caught the imagination of Bob Fox, then an elementary school teacher in Colorado.
