Do customs open every package to verify information? No, customs officers will not open your package or packages without good reason. Each package is subjected to a scanner or x-ray machine to verify that the items you are shipping match your customs forms.
When purchasing postage you must provide accurate packaging, dimensions, weight and address information as the shipping cost is based on this. While your package is in transit, USPS will verify that you purchased the correct amount of postage for your package.

You can set a delivery preference before the courier tries to deliver your package to your door. Once your package is ready for delivery, you will no longer be able to select or change your delivery preferences.
