The default save location is Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save.
To transfer a Mass Effect save played on Xbox One to a Mass Effect 2 save on Xbox 360, create a save file just before the final battle and save it to the cloud drive . Download this to Xbox 360, play through the final battle to create the final autosave for transfer to Mass Effect 2.
Mass Effect 1 automatically saves after the Saren fight and before deciding who will become Coundilor. I’m not sure if this was changed in the PS3 version. It will save again after the credits roll, but a lot of people skipped the credits, so they’re asking you to re-elect the Councilor in ME2.
Players can play their old saves in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Players can import their old saves from Mass Effect 2 and 3 into the Legendary Collection (via GameSpot). On the PC, the files can be transferred, although it only works for Mass Effect 2 and 3 and not the original.
Steam Cloud saves are not available for this game. However, Origin Cloud is present. Your game will appear in Origin with Steam on the cover.
This means that if you want to import a character from Mass Effect 1 into Mass Effect 2, all you have to do is press Create New Game. This then gives you the option to select a male or female character, but the option you want to make is called Import ME1 character.
Browse to your “Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save” folder and create a folder named “ME1” (without the quotes) inside the “Save” folder. After exiting ME1, copy the Mass Effect saves from the Mass Effect save folder (“Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save”) to the “ME1” folder you created.
As many know, the save files are transferred between each Mass Effect game if the player chooses to do so at the beginning of each game. This means that all background traits, choices, deaths, and consequences in Mass Effect 1 are carried over to Mass Effect 2.
The first Mass Effect title has two endings that don’t significantly affect the sequels, but still serve a purpose for Shepard.
By and large, rescuing the Rachni Queen in Mass Effect 1 is probably the most beneficial. However, an important follow-up to Mass Effect 2 would be to ensure Grunt’s loyalty is secured and he survives the suicide mission.
Just keep moving, use powers and shoot until the saren shell finally drops dead. When it does, it will crumble into dust and you will be rewarded with the final cutscene.
Importing an ME1 Shepard will give you 2 additional morale points at the start of Mass Effect. This is a great boon as ME2 unlocks the Charm/Intimidate choices better so you can keep up with the Paragon/Rogue options you can choose.
What do you want to achieve? Duplicate appearance is the only thing that would make sense (skills etc weren’t consistent across games) and it’s far less effort to just do it manually than it is to create a tool to do it. This is not possible. ME3 does not import ME1 characters.
While the requirement is not fully made clear on the Legendary Edition Steam page, the page clearly states that “Requires EA Online activation and installation of the Origin client software and background use”. This means that Origin is not only required to play Mass Effect Legendary Edition, even if purchased…
You need Origin to get the core Mass Effect 2 DLC not sold on Steam. Originally posted by Washell: Buy the trilogy at Origin. More play, less money, and the Origin client is miles ahead of Steam these days in terms of speed, stability, and ease of use.
