The everyday clothes in Hawaii are shorts and t-shirts, which people wear almost everywhere. Women wear tank tops and shorts or light dresses. The weather in Hawaii is warm and humid, with temperatures between 70ºF and mid-80ºF and the pleasant trade winds.

According to the survey conducted by Ward Research, the top problems for Hawaii Islanders are homelessness, drugs and traffic. The major issues facing Maui residents were affordable housing, transportation, and public education. Traffic ranked first on Kauai, followed by environmental issues and crime/public safety.
Skirt a dress, shorts or skirt and a shirt or whatever makes you feel good. The traditional women’s luau outfit includes a dress with beautiful Hawaiian patterns – from floral to palm trees or simpler designs. For women, strapless dresses or shirts with skirts are appropriate attire for a regular luau.
Any shoes you would wear to the beach are also suitable for a luau party. Even if you’re a denim guy (or girl), denim just doesn’t make it at a luau. Again, beach style is key. Opt for loose-fitting linen slacks or board shorts that you can’t wear often enough.
You definitely need to take a beach towel with you on your Hawaii vacation, but just any old towel won’t do! When packing for Hawaii, be sure to bring a sand-proof beach towel or blanket to rest on. For drying, I recommend a quick-drying microfiber cloth. Leave all other bulky towels at home!

In general most locals are happy when the tourists come and see what life means to them, especially those activities that represent a life many have never seen, learned or experienced to have. People live here. Ultimately, locals want tourists to have an approach to leaving Hawaii better than they found it.
