The Old Rod is located just west of Jubilife City at one of the route junction stations. There you will find a fisherman who will give you the Old Rod, which you can use to fish Magikarp in any body of water… and that’s about it.
Red received an Old Rod from the Vermilion Fishing Guru in File 2: Cubone and a Super Rod from the Silence Bridge Fishing Guru in File 3: Giovanni. Shortly after obtaining the latter, he was seen using it to catch a Psyduck.
A key item used primarily for catching Magikarp and Tentacool, but Golden and other small fish can also be caught with an old rod. The Old Rod is the easiest fishing rod to use as you don’t need timing to catch anything with it.
You need the best rod in the game to catch Dratini. You can get the Super Rod on Route 12 in the house with a fisherman in the house.
The good position of the rod in Pokémon BDSP
As already mentioned, the good rod allows for better fishing encounters in Brilliant Diamond & Luminous Pearl. Where the old rod only caught low level Magikarp, the good rod will allow players to catch Magikarp beyond level twenty.
Just keep fishing until you get a Poliwag. You can get the Ancient Staff by talking to the guy in the Pokémon Center (just talk to random characters until you get it).
Effect. The Old Rod allows the player to fish for Pokémon in bodies of water. The Pokémon encountered are at a lower level than those encountered with the Good Rod or Super Rod.
Fishing in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is easy. Once you have a rod, approach a body of water and select the rod under Key Items in your bag to use it.
Staryu can be caught in Pallet Town, Cinnabar Island, Vermillion City, and One Island with the Super Rod and is a LeafGreen exclusive version. So if you’re hoping to get one in FireRed, it’s difficult luck.
Get Lapras
Be sure to visit the Silph clerk on the 7th floor, in the same room where you fought Gary. As a reward, he will give you a rare level 15 Lapras.
There are only two Relaxos in the game (the other one is on Route 16). Wake it up with the Poké Flute, put it to sleep and wear down its health – and then catch it with a Big Ball or better.
Locations: Aerodactyl is extinct, so the only way to get one is to clone it. Get the Old Amber from the Pewter City Museum and bring it to the Cinnabar Island Pokemon Lab.

Dragonite finally gets good Dragon-type moves, unlike Red & Blue. Outrage is so strong from this Pokemon. Not to mention that it has an amazing move pool with strong coverage moves like Thunderbolt, Blizzard, Ice Beam and Earthquake.
Unfortunately there is only one Eevee to find in this game. Before leaving the mansion, talk to an old lady somewhere in the building for tea. Give this tea to one of the guardhouses around Saffron City to open the city.
