4-Stroke Sea-Doos uses XPS 4-Stroke Synthetic Blend Oil (P/N 293 600 121), according to the manufacturer. If the recommended XPS oil is not available, you can alternatively use 5W40 or 10W40 motor oil.
The recommended 2-stroke WaveRunner oils are YamaLube 2-W and YamaLube TC-W3 engine oils. If YamaLube is not available, you can use any other type of 2-stroke engine oil that meets the TC-W3 standard and is NMMA certified. Always carefully check the certification of the oil before using it!
How much oil does a Sea-Doo need? When it comes to Sea-Doo oil capacity, the 1494cc and 1630cc Sea-Doo models hold 5.1-5.3 liters of oil (full oil capacity), but you can only change about 3.2 liters.
The 5W-40 viscosity is a prevailing recommendation for performance engines in European gasoline powered vehicles and American diesel pickup trucks. We offer 5W-40 oils for both petrol and diesel engines.
Although traditionally all jet skis were 2-stroke engines, most of today’s jet skis are powered by 4-stroke engines. The first 4-stroke jet ski models came onto the market in 2002 and became more and more popular.
Recommended oil/fuel premix ratio for 2-stroke watercraft: Yamaha WaveRunner: 500/650/701/760/1100/1200 (NPV): 50 to 1 Oil to fuel ratio (2, 5 ounces of oil to a gallon of fuel). Yamaha WaveRunner: 800 & 1200 (PowerValve engines): 32 to 1 oil to fuel ratio (4 ounces of oil to a gallon of fuel).
2-stroke jet skis require NMMA certified TC-W3 2-stroke oils. It is highly recommended that you only use marine oils in your jet ski as these types of oils contain anti-corrosion additives. Because jet ski engines operate in a wet environment, these additives protect your engine.
10W-40 is the viscosity or weight of motor oil as defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE for short). A 10W-40 oil has a viscosity grade of 10W at low temperature and 40 at higher temperature. What does that mean exactly? Motor oil thickens when cold and thins when warm.
Do 2-stroke jet skis need an oil change? For the above reasons, 2-stroke jet ski engines do not require an oil change. However, the pump oil of these machines must be changed annually. One of the most important systems of a 2-stroke jet ski is its oil injection.
Drive up to 100 hours or a year before your first oil change (100 hours for the Sea-Doo SPARK and 50 hours for all other models). After that, all you need is an oil change every 100 hours or a year.
How often should I change the oil in a jet ski? According to the manufacturer, you should change the oil in your jet ski annually or every 50 hours, whichever comes first. Although the owner’s manual recommends replacing the filter after only 100 engine hours, it is recommended to change the filter with every oil change!
Similar to the type of oil required, the oil filter required will vary. Always use the same type of oil filter as that supplied as standard. Pump. A good pump is essential for changing the oil on a jet ski.
5w30 can be used by different vehicle types and in different temperature ranges, but is ideal for colder temperatures. 5w40 is often used on higher mileage engines as it performs better in warmer temperatures.
In practice, this means that any oil will be just as viscous at lower temperatures and will remain viscous at -30°C, but 5w40 oil will outperform 5w30 oils at higher temperatures as it can reach ambient temperatures temperatures of 50°C instead of 30°C are effective.
It has a better viscosity index than 5W-20 oil and is more versatile in its warmer temperature range. With 5W 30 oil you get better protection in both cold and hotter climates. 5W-20 oil is best for those living in colder climates with low temperatures.
