He is high-spirited and intelligent, tall and lean. He wears his thick hair in an intricate arrangement of whorls. He’s tough too – he once fought off four opponents in a fight with a broken soda bottle. He sees Ponyboy as Sodapop’s pesky little brother and wishes Ponyboy didn’t come along so often.
Cherry is open-minded, sensitive and courageous. She befriends Ponyboy early in the novel and helps him realize that Socs are people too. After Bob dies, Cherry plays a minor role as the liaison between the two gangs.
Being a greaser, Steve is known for being very tough. For example, the text says that Steve likes to fight and crush the other person (muscualr). However, Steve can also be friendly at times. He doesn’t always yell at people or hurt them.
Things only get worse when Soc members Bob and Randy arrive and attack the two boys. Bob pushes Ponyboy’s head into a well, nearly drowning him. Johnny comes to his friend’s defense and stabs Bob to death. Unfortunately, Bob is killed.
Johnny Cade – The second youngest of the Greasers. Johnny is 16, a close friend of Ponyboy and loved by the whole gang.
That night, Ponyboy lies awake in bed, remembering his encounter with the Socs. Sodapop tries to convince him that Darry really cares about Ponyboy, which Ponyboy doesn’t believe. Sodapop then tells Ponyboy his plan to marry Sandy, his girlfriend.
Personality. Tim is one of the few who enjoys being a crook and is the leader of the Shepard gang. He has a grim and bitter smile, like Dallas Winston and the Brumly boys. He has a neutral relationship with Ponyboy’s gang and was found in their living room one morning reading the newspaper.
Cherry’s friend. Bob is the dark-haired Soc who beats up Johnny before the novel begins. Bob has a set of three heavy rings that he wears when fighting Greaser.

The cops kill Dally. After Johnny dies in the hospital, Dally is so upset that he runs away from Ponyboy and robs a grocery store. The police chase him to the empty parking lot where the Greasers are. There, Dally pulls out his unloaded gun and threatens the police, who shoot him in self-defense.
Although the real setting might make you wonder if Outsiders is based on a true story (like Hatfields & McCoys in History’s story), this series is entirely fictional. However, the cast and creators reveal that they still did a lot of research to make the story as authentic as possible.
6. Who gets sick and passes out after Dally dies? Pony Boy.
