Warm and fun culture. Starbucks is a fantastic place for flexible hours, short shifts and meeting people. Growth within the company doesn’t offer much unless you’re really working towards becoming a store manager. It can be a fun environment depending on the crowd you work with.
Physically demanding job
Being a barista at Starbucks requires long shifts. Some baristas complain that they can’t sit down for hours. It can be really overwhelming working during rush hours when you are already tired and your legs hurt.
Barista is probably the funniest job that pays well too! If you enjoy talking to people, have a good sense of humor and enjoy meeting new people, then this job is for you. You will meet amazing people from all over the world and become friends with many of them.
So overall, no, it’s not hard. It’s a fair environment that will keep you busy. It takes time and practice to learn the position. Once you get the hang of it, being a barista is fun and not that hard.
Not at all. Starbucks trains their baristas very well and has boiled it all down to a science. Not really, the workout is generally pretty good and fast.
If you’ve ever walked into a Starbucks during a busy time, you know how busy and hectic it can get. Employees agree that sometimes the job can be so great that it can also be very stressful.
The job is a good entry-level job. I was hired and promoted to shift supervisor within a few months. You can experience a lot of growth if you put in the effort. It’s a very fast pace and having colleagues who aren’t rude and helpful will be a plus.
For me personally, my job as a barista is the first step in a coffee career. For many of my colleagues, it’s just a job where you invest your time and then go home and don’t think about coffee. As an example, my non-coffee co-workers set the grind size with a stopwatch and nothing else.
Depending on the team, it can be really fun! But sometimes things can get very hectic, especially when people don’t have coffee in the system yet. Cool environment and great benefits!
