Prior to Season 3, it was announced that Emma and Brooke were being recast. However, rather than recast Jackie, the show scrapped her character entirely. It was almost as if the producers and writers wanted to reboot the show and give it a fresh makeover after two seasons, as successful as they were with fandom.
However, one glaring change probably caught the eye of viewers tuning in to Season 3: Instead of Aviv, it was Dana Melanie who played Emma’s role. For reasons unknown, the producers decided to swap the two actresses, letting go of Aviv and greenlighting Dana instead.
Grace Van Dien (Brooke) left the company because she got a chance to star in another NBC television series called The Village, in which she played a girl named Katie Campbell. However, the show didn’t receive many good reviews and thus only had one season. However, she has made a few other films.

She’d spent most of the season chasing down another mystery, and by the end she was finally ready to step aside Emma and Max to pursue something. But there was no indication that Jackie would be leaving the show for good. Prior to Season 3, it was announced that Emma and Brooke would be recast.

In the final episode of Season 2, he even rejects Emma because he realizes he likes Jackie. He finds her on the beach and tells her he’s in love with her.
