The “Check Gauges” light means just that. Look at all the gauges while the engine is running and see which one is not within the normal range. Gas gauge doesn’t matter. The temp gauge should be about 195 degrees, the voltage should be about 14 volts and the oil pressure at idle is about 40psi.
Registered. The computer turns on the indicator light if any of the parameters they display is outside the normal range. All gauges in the ’05s and ’06s are controlled by the computer that monitors the transmitting units.
Driving with the warning light on: is it safe and how long can you drive? It depends on what turns off the “Check Gauges” light. If it is due to a low washer fluid level, there is no immediate danger if you continue driving – provided that all vehicle systems are still working properly.
The most common additional gauge is the temperature gauge, followed by the tachometer, voltmeter and oil pressure gauge. If your car doesn’t have a temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge or charging system gauge, then you have a warning light for these functions.
The gauges in a car are diagnostic tools that the car uses to display information about its various systems. Gauges are usually displayed on your car’s dashboard behind the steering wheel. The gauges in a car help identify fluctuations or problems before they cause serious damage.
CARS.COM – The check engine light on the dashboard is a warning many vehicle owners dread. The check engine light is a signal that the on-board diagnostics system (or OBD II) has detected a malfunction in the vehicle’s emissions, ignition, fuel or emissions systems.
The oil pressure warning light is a warning that the oil pressure is insufficient or the oil level is too low. This prevents the oil from flowing through the narrow passages to provide proper lubrication. Lack of lubrication can cause the motor to stall or cause irreparable damage.
The oil pressure gauge usually drops when a few things could happen. Either the engine actually has too little oil, the oil pump could be defective or the oil pressure transmitter unit is not working properly and may display an incorrect reading.
