1 : determine the caliber of (something) 2 : determine, correct or mark the graduation of (something, e.g. a thermometer tube) 3 : (something, e.g. a measuring instrument) by determining the deviation from a standard to determine the correct correction factors.
A person usually performs a calibration to determine the error or to verify the accuracy of the DUT’s unknown value. As a simple example, you could perform a calibration by taking the temperature of a DUT thermometer in water at the known boiling point (212 degrees Fahrenheit) to learn the thermometer’s error.
The goal of calibration is to minimize measurement uncertainty by ensuring the accuracy of the test equipment. Calibration quantifies and controls errors or uncertainties within measurement processes to an acceptable level.
“Calibration meetings” are the discussions a group of managers must have to establish performance expectations and performance evaluations fairly and consistently.
Calibration verification means testing materials of known concentration in the same manner as patient samples to ensure that the test system is measuring accurately across the reportable range.
Windows. On Windows, open the Control Panel and search for “calibrate”. Under Display, click “Calibrate display color”. A window opens with the tool for calibrating the display color. It guides you through the following basic image adjustments: gamma, brightness and contrast, and color balance.
< li>Mechanical calibration.
Calibration is the process of comparing a reading on one device or system to another device that has been calibrated and related to a known set of parameters. The device used as a reference should itself be directly traceable to devices calibrated to ISO/IEC 17025.
Monthly, quarterly, or biannual – If you frequently perform critical measurements, a shorter time between calibrations means there is less chance of questionable test results. You can often get better specifications by calibrating at shorter intervals.
Calibration Sessions
Managers who oversee similar groups of employees meet and post names and ratings for all to review. Participants review and discuss their proposed appraisal ratings for each employee. Participants adjust the ratings to ensure accuracy and consistency. Final performance reviews are prepared.
What happens at a calibration meeting? The aim of the meeting is for the participants to discuss the most important criteria for distinguishing top performers; reviewing proposed employee ratings; and determine match against the criteria identified for top performers.
