Check if you have a contract
Most Cox plans have 1-year contracts, including basic Internet plans. What is that? Cox doesn’t require contracts for internet-only plans, but will charge an additional $10/month if you want contract-free service.
Cox devices must be returned within 10 calendar days to avoid unreturned device charges. Purchased devices must be returned to a Cox-owned retail store within 30 days of purchase to receive a refund to the method used for purchase.

Consequences of not recalibrating the COX device
Failure to return the device can result in penalties and further bills. Even if your device is leased, it’s important to return it to avoid future problems. However, the company may not want the device back.

Cox collections can damage your credit score and stay on your credit report for up to seven years, whether you pay them or not. Unfortunately, paying the collection costs could even affect your credit score. However, it is possible to remove a collections account from your credit history seven years ago.
Since Cox does not allow online cancellations, it is best to do this over the phone. The first step is to call and navigate through the automated menu to reach an account manager in the loyalty department.
You must call customer service to cancel your Internet. This is usually the only way to cancel your service with most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) – it’s highly unlikely you’ll be able to cancel it online.
However, if you’re not sure how long you’ll need internet service, it might pay off for you to go for a shorter contract with a higher monthly fee that allows you to easily cancel at any time without penalty. Canceling internet service takes a little patience, but it’s doable.
In general, you should inform your ISP 30 days in advance if you wish to cancel so that they can arrange to collect or return the rental equipment and finalize your contract cancellation. You can also avoid paying some cancellation fees by giving notice.
Refunds will be credited to the same credit card that received payment. If payment was made by cash or check, the refund will be made within 4-6 weeks in the form of a check and mailed to the address provided during registration.
In general, a non-payment process begins 23 days after the original due date. You can obtain a one-time 10-day extension once every four months by calling your local Cox Credit Services department.
Our Panorama WiFi gateway is a rental-only option, so you’ll continue to have the latest and most advanced gear and not be tied to one device as technology changes. You can provide your own modem, WiFi router or combination device (click here for a list of supported devices).
Cox will pre-bill all customers for their normal monthly service fees; while usage-based charges such as pay-per-view movies and long-distance calls are billed on the next bill. When an invoice is received, it is valid for approximately the next 30 days of service.

Important: Currently we are unable to accept returns of Cox Business devices to a Cox retail store. For customers who are near a UPS store or have moved to an area not served by Cox, the Return Anywhere option provides the flexibility to return Cox equipment to any UPS store within the United States.
