One of the most versatile greatswords in the game, the Claymore can be an excellent weapon choice for almost any melee build. There are tons of weapons to choose from in Dark Souls 3, which makes it even more impressive to note that the Claymore is one of the most commonly used, especially for new players.
1 The Claymore
By far the best greatsword in Dark Souls 3 is the humble Claymore. This weapon is obtained early in the game by killing enemies using it in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. It deals 138 base damage, is lightweight to minimize stamina drain, and has the incredibly useful stance ability.
Claymore is a bit opulent. Title. I mean you can get it to +4 before there’s Cursed Bigwood, at which point it should do around 230 damage.
The point is, Sword users are simply more versatile than Claymore players who rely solely on DPS to survive. Meanwhile, utility-based sword users can easily control the battlefield and survive longer than claymore users against certain enemies.
Claymore swings faster and has faster weapon art animation to break down enemy guards, but the two-hander of throwing people up with an oversized weapon can be very satisfying.
1 Old King’s Great Hammer
With 328 physical attacks and 126 fire attacks, the Old King’s great hammer is possibly the most powerful weapon in Dark Souls 3.
As I said, it’s a quality weapon, which means it scales well with both STR and DEX. Yarxov’s answer is good. Depending on their playstyle, people choose either 27 STR / 40 DEX or 40 STR / 40 DEX.
The Black Knight Sword is considered one of the best weapons for PvE and with good reason. With persistence, the player’s balance can be boosted to deal incredible damage. In addition to its great damage, it has good range, speed, does not consume too much player stamina and grants 20% bonus damage to demons.
Easily forgotten when most people talk about the DS3 Black Knight weapons, the Black Knight Shield is arguably the best medium shield in the game. Before the player even considers using it, they must have at least 18 Strength to hold this heavy 7.5 mass of metal.
The Fume Ultra Greatsword is one of the most powerful weapons in the game and its optimal use follows a steep learning curve as stamina management is crucial with this weapon. The Fume Ultra Greatsword comes with a whopping 149 base damage, which is well balanced with its 25.5 unit weight.
Claymore users are some of the most helpful characters, and of course some rank higher than others in terms of usability and popularity. There are five different weapon types that make up Genshin Impact’s combat system, at least as of early 2022.
The Longsword is great for mowing through groups of enemies, and the Claymore is great for maximizing damage against bosses where you might only get the opportunity once or twice to hit between dodges.
Claymores limit the character wielding them to slower hits than other melee weapons like swords and polearms, but these hits deal much more damage per hit.
