Disposable Bottles
A 50 pound disposable bottle weighs 10 pounds. A 15/20 lb disposable bottle has a tare weight of 4 lbs.
The maximum permitted gross filling weight of the cylinder is 0.8 x water capacity x specific gravity of the recovered refrigerant at 77°/25°C + tare weight of the cylinder.
Cylinder weighs approximately 6 pounds.
The tare weight (TW) is stamped somewhere on the cylinder. Each cylinder is slightly different. New refrigerant cylinders (25/30lbs) only show a net weight – in the case of your 410a cylinder it is 25lbs.
By law, a tank can only be 80% full and must be kept below 122°F. Recommended to fill less than 80% to 2 lbs. For example, a 30-pound cylinder can hold 22 pounds of refrigerant and a 50-pound cylinder can hold 38 pounds of refrigerant.
For example, if the refrigerant moves at 170 kj/kg, then: 263,750 / 170 = 1,551 kg. Multiply this weight by 2.2 to convert to pounds: 1,551 x 2.2 = 3,412 lb. Divide this weight by the number of cycles the system has cycled during the period runs through.
Store bottles upright and chain. Store full and empty bottles separately. Always secure bottles during transport. Do not stack cylinders on top of each other.

The rule of thumb is two to four pounds of refrigerant per ton of your unit. You should always check the specifications of your device. However, most household air conditioners weigh between one and five tons.
Most homes have air conditioners that weigh anywhere from half a ton to five tons. This means that a home with a 3-ton air conditioner requires 6-12 lbs. from freon. It takes no more than 2 hours to charge a 3 ton unit.
Room temperature air
A working air conditioner should blow cool air, provided it is set for cool air. If your vehicle is blowing out room temperature air instead, this could be a sign of low or empty freon. In this case you may need to charge it.
