To obtain a pet cat, a player must complete the quest “Gertrude’s Cat”, after which Gertrude will give them a kitten as part of the reward. After three hours the kitten will grow into a domestic cat.
Players may only have one Smart or Lazy Cat outside or in the Bank at a time, in addition to a Kitten or Adult Cat, and as many Oversized Cats as they like. However, you can have multiple lazy/smart cats by keeping them in your menagerie before training another.
Kittens have a small chance of catching rats, so it’s recommended to wait until your kitten has grown into a cat before attempting to catch rats. Also, a smart cat doesn’t count if you already have a normal cat!
You need the help of Evil Dave to do this. He lives in his mother’s basement… In order of effectiveness: A smart cat, a cat, a kitten, or a lazy cat (the last two NOT RECOMMENDED!) Many bowls of stew (It’s a good idea is to have at least 10 bowls of stew to start with.)
Players can manage pets while active through the familiar interface by applying food to them by left-clicking and with direct interaction by right-clicking. Pets that exist as objects can be stored in the bank or inventory and follow the player when dropped.
