There are several ways to display your cowhide on the wall. If the wall is soft, e.g. gypsum board or fiberboard, then the simplest and easiest way to hang your cowhide is to use thin, small-headed nails or staples – preferably with an electric stapler.
A cabinet and pole hook combo is a relatively easy way to hang your cowhide rug without nails. Mount the bar hooks on the wall. This may require drilling screws into the wall, but at least it’s only in one spot on the wall. Be sure to measure the length of the rod at the back of your rug.
Place your furniture directly on top of the rug and allow a little excess to sneak out behind the furniture. Place your furniture half on the rug and half off the rug, letting the cowhide itself show off a little more and become more of a focal point of the room.
If the wall is soft – plasterboard or fiberboard, for example, then the simplest and easiest way to hang your cowhide rug is to always use thin small-headed nails or staples – ideally with a simple one to use electric staple guns.
I cut the cowhide to size and then use regular old goop/gorilla glue to glue the hide to the wood. (I had figured that when I got tired of the cowhide I could do a similar treatment with burlap or some other fabric…) I used nailhead upholstery trim around the edges.
Cowhide rugs look great under different pieces of furniture. This is especially true in rooms with hardwood floors where you may want to store the furniture on soft surfaces.

The living room is probably the most common place for cowhides. Maybe because it gives a special shape to the room or it can be easily repositioned and placed under the coffee table. It is often seen as the centerpiece of the entire room and immediately draws your attention.
It’s also modern and feels elegant. The good news is that the cowhide rug also has its place in this style. With minimal furniture and soft colors there is room for a rug with so much character.
Quality that lasts. Cowhide leather is very durable and can withstand a lot of foot traffic and the wear and tear of pets and children. You might think that a faux cowhide rug would be more durable, but that’s not the case.
Cowhide is the natural skin of a cow with hair. The leather obtained from this can be used for shoes, purses, leather jackets, furniture, as well as car leather and belts. Most cowhide is hairless, but can also be processed into leather with fur (hair-on-leather).
Buffalo robes/hides are absolutely perfect as a rug in front of the fireplace, at the foot of the couch, or use a buffalo robe/hides to accent a beautiful hardwood floor. The deep, soft fur makes the buffalo hide the most luxurious rug you have ever owned.
