First, dampen your jeans by either running them through the wash or misting them with a spray bottle. Button and fasten the jeans, then pull the waistband. In this way, the jeans retain their stretched shape after drying.
First, pull the rubber band to the maximum, then place it on the ironing board or a wider wooden board. Then iron back and forth on the elastic band with an iron. After a few minutes of ironing, the elastic will loosen a little.
Use warm water to fill a spray bottle and spray waistband until completely damp. Start moving. Squat, lunge, pull each leg up to your chest, or do other movements that help pull and stretch the pants’ cushioned waist. Do this until the waist has reached the desired stretch.
Wet your jeans completely in lukewarm water, either in the bath or in a sink. Put them on (if they’re wet, I know!) and do some moves that stretch them like lunges, squats, bends, walking, sitting, etc. You can also do the moves without wetting the jeans, but that Water helps loosen and soften the strands.
This trick is the easiest way to try and stretch a shrunken pair of jeans. Spray them with lukewarm water, then lay the jeans on the floor. Stand on each leg of the jeans, bend down and use your hands to manually pull and stretch the jeans while they are wet.
Using a spray bottle
Put your pants on and pull them up as far as you can. This will help you make pants bigger. Make sure the buttons and zippers are fastened as well. Now you need to use warm water and put it in a spray bottle to spray on the waistband of your pants.
“The idea that you should wear your jeans in a bathtub is a horrible idea. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it stretches the jeans unnaturally. It creates sagging at the knees and pulls your hips on the clothing, giving you a hip swing.”
All jeans will stretch to varying degrees over time, explains Dean Brough, Academic Program Director at the QUT School of Design. “Jeans are inherently stretchy. The fabric is meant to conform and mold to the body, which is why we love them,” he says.
You can make your pants wider around the waist using either stretching or sewing techniques. The easiest way to widen the waistband of pants is to stretch the fabric to make it looser. You can also make more permanent changes with scissors and a sewing machine.
