Masonry nails are made of hardened steel and are usually grooved or threaded. Ordinary nails cannot penetrate masonry. Choose nails that are long enough to penetrate the wall approximately 1¼ to 1½ inches (32-38mm), plus the thickness of the board you are installing.
To hang something on a brick, use a clamp anchor for light objects, like framed photos. Simply open the clamps on the anchor and place them around the edges of the brick. Or stick an adhesive hook that says “Heavy Duty” on a brick to hang small items.

Choose high-impact anchor nails for concrete walls.
They’re tough enough to be hammered into concrete, but you’ll need to drill a pilot hole in the wall first. Look for high-impact anchor nails at your local hardware store or hardware store. You can also order knock-in nails online.
To drill into brick without cracking it, you need a carbide drill with an abrasive surface to cut through the material. Be sure to chisel away grout or other cementation from both surfaces prior to drilling for better results.
