As previously mentioned, it’s a good idea to remove your Invisalign before drinking alcohol. Red wine and dark beer can stain your Invisalign, while other beers and cocktails with sugary ingredients increase tooth decay—especially if you wear aligners that lock in the sugar.
Do you have to remove Invisalign to drink? Invisalign treatment does not interfere with the consumption of alcohol, wine, soda, juice or other beverages. The aligners still need to be removed before they can be used. Wearing clear aligners is safe to do with just mouth water.
First, alcohol can stain Invisalign aligners. Red wine is the main culprit for this. It is best to choose clear spirits (such as gin or vodka) or white wine that leave no traces. If you can’t help yourself with the red, have a glass of water nearby to sip on.
You can drink alcoholic or sugary beverages through a straw. It minimizes the contact of the drink with your aligners and teeth. Earn bonus points by using biodegradable straws instead of plastic straws.
Do not drink soda or alcohol while wearing a retainer – Due to the unobtrusive nature of the device, it is tempting to drink while wearing a retainer. However, excess fluid trapped under the splints can significantly increase the acid load on the teeth and increase the likelihood of tooth decay.
The first and best trick is to clean while you eat. I used retainer brite cleaning tablets which I keep in my kitchen. When I eat, I drop a Retainer Brite tablet in water and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. While nothing can whiten Invisalign splints perfectly, they really do look that much better!
As mentioned above, there are no major restrictions on drinking while wearing braces. Drinking with braces will not damage your wires or braces.
Some alcoholic beverages and food can stain both your Invisalign aligners and your teeth. Several well-known alcoholic spirits (beer, mead, whiskey, etc.) contain chromogens that can transform into pigments.

Although Invisalign aligners are designed to be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, and might be removed for smoking, they should be worn for at least 22 hours a day. Wearing aligners less than 22 hours a day can interfere with treatment and slow down progress.
During your Invisalign treatment you may drink alcohol, wine, soda, juice and other beverages. However, as previously mentioned, you must remove the aligners to use them up. Water is the only beverage that is safe to consume while wearing clear aligners.
Will beer stain my retainer? While we don’t recommend going straight from the dentist’s office to the pub, drinking beer is perfectly fine. As a result, the beer could soil the retainer and thus no longer appear invisible.
Just like braces, with Invisalign, you can drink whatever you want, but only when you’re not wearing your aligners. It is extremely important that you remove your aligners to drink anything other than plain water.
You can occasionally take out your Invisalign aligners to enjoy a special evening. There is no need to change anything. Continue your daily activities while straightening your teeth.
Invisalign® aligners may discolor during treatment. Smoking while carrying your trays is a surefire way to turn them yellow. Having leftover food like pasta sauce, curry, or berries in your mouth when you put your aligners back in can also cause stains.

Taking a deep breath and trying to relax, even giving up and waiting ten minutes before starting again, can make the difference between success and failure.
Do you drink alcohol with Invisalign? Dental experts recommend not drinking alcoholic beverages such as red or white wine while wearing your removable aligners. However, if you can’t control the urge, consider removing your aligners while enjoying a drink.
